It's hard to imagine that the lemon of a car I drove
around in college could be useful for anything more than scrap
metal.
It's unthinkable that it could
teach something so valuable about web marketing that I put it
into practice every single day.
And yet it has done just
that.
Let me tell you a story that
turned into a lesson in advertising before I reveal a few of the
Yahoo! secrets. Ok? I know, I know, you're busy and
you just want to roll up your sleeves and get to work...
...but a 5-minute break will
reveal more to you about doing business on the internet than a
2-hour crash course ever could.
So, stick with me. You'll
learn perhaps the most important lesson of earning a living
online.
Have you ever heard of the
movie, "Christine," about a possessed car? My
car was Christine's older brother. ;-) This car was
possessed. I'm convinced of it.
In all honesty, I NEVER knew if
I was going to arrive where I was headed. That car died so
many times and was left along the road I thought they were going
to erect a tombstone in its memory. This car was terrible,
an absolute mechanical failure.
One day I left my apartment on
campus and began the 5-minute drive to my workplace. Of
course, almost like clockwork, my car stalled in the middle of
the road.
Then, it died.
Then, five o'clock rush hour let
loose.
I realized that I had to do
something and do it quick. There was a concrete barrier to
the right and four lanes to the left. I couldn't simply
push the car off the road.
So, I began pushing straight
ahead, hoping to make it to the convenience store just up the
road.
At first, it didn't seem like I
was accomplishing a thing. I strained and mustered up
every bit of strength I could and yet it didn't appear to be
moving the car. I almost decided to quit, but I was
determined, so I kept pushing.
Then, suddenly it moved! I
WAS accomplishing something! I pushed harder and harder
and the car began to roll. Excitement jolted my body like
a bolt of electricity. It was working!
It wasn't long before momentum
built and the car was moving along almost by itself. Soon,
I made it to the convenience store. All I had to do was
keep pushing to keep it going.
I learned one of the most
valuable lessons in advertising that day. Did you see
it?
When you first begin to
advertise it may seem like you are not accomplishing
anything. Perhaps you are disappointed with the
results. You may have expected sales to pour in like a
flood...
...when instead they trickled in
like a leaky faucet.
My friend, you just got started
pushing, momentum hasn't built yet!
The absolute #1 key to
advertising is consistency. If I had stopped pushing early
on, then my car would have never began to roll. At any
point during the time that I pushed my car to the convenience
store if I had stopped pushing, then the car would have ceased
to roll.
Advertising builds like pushing
a car. At first, it seems like you aren't budging the darn
thing at all. Then, it moves a little...a few sales come
in. For the few who continue to push, and even push
harder, the advertising automobile begins to roll...
...and soon momentum carries it
almost by itself. All you have to do is keep
pushing.
What about it friend? You
can learn all about doing business on the web. There are
some fantastic courses available that will teach you everything
you need to know about generating website traffic and making the
sale.
But don't expect the car to
start rolling on its own. The Success Door has a lock on
it. And the only key that will open it is
consistency...
...You gotta push.
And then you gotta keep
pushing.
See you at the convenience
store.
How to Generate 200-400 Hits a
Week
Using Yahoo! Free Classifieds
Yahoo! Classifieds receives a
reported 12 million hits a day. Did you catch that?
12 million hits a day. I don't know about you, but that's
more hits than my website receives. So, maybe you and I
would like to tap into their traffic, shall we?
There are literally tens of
thousands of new ads being posted to Yahoo's free classified ad
section every single day.
Now, Yahoo! allows your
classified ad to remain posted for 30 days. However,
generally your ad will only remain visible and receiving hits
for a few hours after it shows upon on their page.
Why? Because Yahoo
receives 12 million hits a day! And everyone wants their
piece of the pie. Just like you and I do.
Right?
There are a few techniques,
however, that work every time for generating maximum exposure at
Yahoo! Classifieds. Ready to learn?
What I am about to show you is a
simple formula that I personally use day after day to produce
between 200-400 hits a week from Yahoo! Classifieds.
Step 1: Open your Yahoo!
accounts.
First, you will need to open FIVE (5) Yahoo! accounts. Use
variations of the same username when opening your accounts for
best results. For example, I use...
profitsvault1@yahoo.com
profitsvault2@yahoo.com
profitsvault3@yahoo.com
profitsvault4@yahoo.com
profitsvault5@yahoo.com
You can open these accounts for
FREE by visiting http://www.Yahoo.com.
Step 2: Determine which ads and
headlines you want to post on Yahoo!
Don't just rush into this
step. Take some time here. In fact, this is THE most
important part of your advertising. Choose your headlines
wisely. Craft your ads carefully. A poor headline
and / or ad will ruin your advertising, so take your time. (If
you are a member of the Profits Vault Private Site, then work
through the Killer Headlines Tutorial and the Killer Classifieds
Tutorial.)
You have several options here of
how you want to advertise on Yahoo! Classifieds.
(a) Change Your Headline. You
can post the exact same ad with 10 different headlines.
It's a proven fact that the headline makes all the difference in
your advertising. A good headline turns glances into
stares. Many of my clients use the same classified ad in
all 10 of their posts, but simply change the headline.
This is especially good if you
are tracking your ads. By also changing the URL or email
address within your ad, you can determine which of the headlines
produces the most hits. Since the ad itself would be the
same, then the only difference would be the pull of your
headline. (If you are a member of the Profits Vault
Private Site, then refer to the section on "Testing and
Tracking" for a detailed explanation of how to track your
ads)
Please don't rush into posting
your ads. Take your time to develop strong
headlines. Ask yourself, "Would I respond to that
headline?" Just placing an ad does not guarantee you
hits. You need a killer headline to grab the attention of
the reader.
If your headline doesn't do
that, then you are just wasting your time.
Here are 12
"fill-in-the-blanks" headlines that have been proven
effective that you can use for your own advertising, along with
some examples.

Just simply fill-in-the-blanks and you've got a ready-made
killer headline.
(b) Change Your Category. You can
post the exact same ad in 10 different categories and
subcategories. Another subtle change in posting habits
that can produce a tremendous amount of exposure is to simply
post the same ad in different categories and
subcategories. By doing this you reach the viewing eyes of
readers in 10 different topics of interest.
For example, if you are
advertising a Web Marketing Course, then you can post your ad
under "Business Opportunities," "Internet,"
"Advertising and Marketing," "Information
Products," "Work at Home." and several other
related subcategories.
Mr. Smith steer completely clear
of "Business Opportunities" because he views them as
scams. But, he IS interested in learning how to promote
his internet business, so he heads off to "Advertising and
Marketing." Bingo! He sees your ad.
By contrast, Mr. Jones isn't
interested in "Advertising and Marketing" at
all. In fact, he doesn't even have anything to
advertise! But, he IS interested in finding a way to earn
some extra money on the weekends. So, he visits Yahoo!
Classifieds' "Work at Home" section.
Bingo! He sees your ad, as well.
Different categories means
different readers. Different readers means more eyeballs
locked on your ads.
Do I really need to tell you
what that means? $$$
(c) Change Your Content. You can
post 10 different ads highlighting different benefits of your
product or service.
The most important thing that a
reader wants to know when reading ANY advertising is,
"What's in it for me?" They don't care that your
gizmo is the fastest, cheapest, top-rated, best-selling on the
market. They simply want to know, "What's in it for
me?"
So, tell them for pete's
sake!
Re-read this sentence from the
paragraph above, because it's important. "They don't
care that your gizmo is the fastest, most cost-effective,
top-rated, best-selling on the market."
But, you're proud of that,
aren't you? You're pleased that yours is the fastest, most
cost-effective, top-rated, best-selling on the market,
right? So, communicate it to the reader in THEIR
language.
What is their language?
"What's in it for me?"
Don't tell them that your gizmo
is the fastest on the market. Communicate in THEIR
language. Tell them it will save them valuable time that
they can use on the more important things in life.
Don't try to convince the reader that your gizmo is the most
cost-effective on the market. Communicate in THEIR
language. Convince them it will save them valuable money
that they can spend on something they would really like to
buy.
Never, never, never tell them your gizmo is the top-rated in the
market.
Communicate in THEIR language. Compel them try your product
because they deserve the very best, something that is going to
be beneficial to them.
They don't care that your product is establishing new sales
records, so don't tell them. Communicate in THEIR
language.
Point out that thousands of hard-working folks just like them
are seeing their lives improved because of your product.
To compel people to respond to your ads, you've got to speak
their language. You've got to answer the one burning
question that is on every single person's mind...
..."What's in it for me?"
So, stress different
benefits. In one ad stress how it will save money.
In other ad, how it will save time. In still another, how
it will improve their lives. Stress benefit after
benefit.
Again, there's a point to
this. Mr. Smith may earn $250,000 a year and doesn't care
a thing about saving money. But, he is interested in
saving time. Mr. Jones may be a do-it-yourselfer who
enjoys investing his time, but he doesn't have any money to
waste.
Different benefits appeal to
different people.
And you want them ALL to
respond. So, change your benefits. Stress them
all.
Another variation of this is to
target different audiences completely. Instead of simply
posting to different related categories, post to different
unrelated categories...
...while stressing the benefits
to each specific target audience.
This is something that we have
found to be very effective. Let me explain.
Suppose you have some dandy new
"Work at Home" course that reveals a simple formula
that anyone can follow to earn extra cash from their home.
You've been posting your ads to the "Work at Home,"
"Business Opportunities," and "Internet"
categories. Let's say you've been using the
headline...
Earn $2,000 a Month In Your
Spare-Time.
Now, take that same classified
ad and head over to the "Wrestling Fans" category and
with one simple change to your headline...
Wrestling Fans, Earn $2,000 a
Month in Your Spare-Time.
Voila! Like magic you have
a headline that is all but guaranteed to get some hits from the
wrestling fans who read the classifieds posted in that
section. Sure, they came to the classified ad section
looking for some cheap tickets to Wrestlemania or an autographed
Sable poster. But, who can resist an opportunity for me, a
wrestling fan, to earn $2,000 a month in my
spare-time?
You're speaking their language.
Of course, the possibilities are
endless here...
Homemakers, Earn $2,000 a Month
in Your Spare-Time
Dallas Cowboy Fans, Earn $2,000 a
Month in Your Spare-Time
VCR Owners, Earn $2,000 a Month in
Your Spare-Time
Athletes, Earn $2,000 a Month in
Your Spare-Time
Gardeners, Earn $2,000 a Month in
Your Spare-Time
You get the idea. With a
little creativity you can alter your headlines and ads just a
bit and reach an entirely different target audience.
(d) Change Your Product. You can
post 10 different ads for 10 different products and
services. Obviously, you can also choose to advertise 10
completely different products and services with your
ads.
So, what should you do?
Different headlines, same ad? Target your audience?
Different products?
Actually, you can do them
all. Let's find out how, shall we?
Step 3: Gain the Maximum
Exposure from Yahoo! Classifieds.
Before you actually post your
classified ads, there are a few things you need to know about
how the Yahoo! Classifieds operate in order to make the most of
this incredible advertising opportunity.
Yahoo! Classifieds allows up to
10 ads per account. For best results, quite obviously, you
should use all 10 ads that they allot you. We are going to
tweak things just a bit and use five different accounts to give
you a total of 50 ads each week, but we'll get to that in just a
moment.
It takes approximately 24 hours for you ad to make it online at
Yahoo! Classifieds after you post it. If you post your ad
on Monday at 4:28 p.m., then it will be approximately Tuesday at
4:28 p.m. before it will show up for anyone to see.
The classified ads at Yahoo! only pull hits for a couple of
hours after they appear online. Why? Because tens of
thousands of other people are posting ads also. Each time
a new ad appears yours will drop further down on the page within
your category and subcategory. After a few hours your ad
will fall from the first page to the second page, where it will
receive very, very few hits, if any at all. You only have
a window of about 2-4 hours of exposure. (But, believe me,
if you do this right, it is well worth it!)
Sometimes Yahoo! rejects ads if you post the same ad, with the
same headline in the same category. So, mix it up.
I've never been one who wanted minimal results. Why settle
for 100 hits a week when you can generate 300? What you
want from Yahoo! Classifieds is the absolute most you can
possibly get from them...
...and not one hit less.
Step 4: Post your Ads at Yahoo! Classifieds.
You've written some killer
headlines. Your classified ads just ooze with "What's
in it for me?" Now, what you need is a system.
Here is our simple, five-day-system for Yahoo! Classifieds
Success. It is recommended that you follow this plan on
Monday-Friday for best results. (Day One = Monday)
Important note: The first
time through this five-day-system will take you about 10-12
minutes each day. After week one, it only takes about 5-7
minutes.
Day One
(a) Log in at Yahoo.com using
email account number one.
(b) Click on the
"Classifieds" link.
(c) Place a maximum of 10 ads using
the Day One Focus.
(d) Logout
Day One Focus is: Same Headline
and Classified Ad in different categories.
What you will need: One
(1) Classified Ad and One (1) Headline.
Action Step: Using the identical
information, post your ad in 10 different related categories and
subcategories. You will see where to choose this
when you place your ads.
Important note(s): Make
sure you post the ads into different categories /
subcategories. If you post these ads in the same category,
then some may be rejected by Yahoo!
Day Two
(a) Log in at Yahoo.com using
email account number two.
(b) Click on the
"Classifieds" link.
(c) Place a maximum of 10 ads using
the Day Two Focus.
(d) Logout
Day Two Focus is:
Different Headlines and Classified Ads in same category.
What you will need: Ten
(10) Classified Ads and Ten (10) Headlines.
Action Step: Using the
different headlines and ads, post to the single category that
most fits what product or service you are advertising.
Important note(s): Make
sure you use account number two. This is very important.
If you use the wrong account, then you will be cancelling the
exposure of the ads you already posted.
Also, if you are posting at the
same time each day, your posts from Day One are probably
"live" and gaining exposure at this point.
Don't forget to stress
"different" benefits in each of your ads.
Day Three
(a) Log in at Yahoo.com using
email account number three.
(b) Click on the
"Classifieds" link.
(c) Place a maximum of 10 ads using
the Day Three Focus.
(d) Logout
Day Three Focus is: Same
Classified Ad and Different Headlines in different
category.
What you will need: One
(1) Classified Ad and Ten (10) Headlines
Action Step: Using
different headlines, post the same classified ad in targeted
categories.
Important note(s): Make
sure you use account number three. Again, this is very
important, effecting the outcome of your advertising.
Today's focus is on targeting
specific audiences. "Moms, you can..."
"Athletes, you can..." "Gardeners, you
can..." Adjust your headlines accordingly.
Depending upon your product / service, you may have to tweak
your ad just a bit for the different categories.
Choose some
"off-target" categories to post your ads to, changing
your headlines to match.
Day Four
(a) Log in at Yahoo.com using
email account number four.
(b) Click on the
"Classifieds" link.
(c) Place a maximum of 10 ads using
the Day Four Focus.
(d) Logout
Day Four Focus is:
Different Products and Services.
What you will need: Ten
(10) Classified Ads and Ten (10) Headlines
Action Step: Using
different headlines and ads, post to appropriate
categories.
Important note(s): I hate
to repeat this, but please use account number four.
Important!
Today's focus is on advertising
different products and services that you offer. If you
only have a few products and services, then promote some
affiliate programs that you are involved in. Details are at the
conclusion of this report on how you can create your own
products and services to sell for 100% of the profit.
Day Five
(a) Log in at Yahoo.com using
email account number five.
(b) Click on the
"Classifieds" link.
(c) Place a maximum of 10 ads using
the Day Five Focus.
(d) Logout
Day Five Focus is: Mix and
Match.
What you will need:
Various ads and headlines.
Action Step: Using
different headlines and ads, post to appropriate
categories.
Important note(s): Do I
really need to remind you? Use account number five.
Today's focus is simply mixing
up things however you want. Use different products and
services, change your headlines, post under different categories
and / or target your audience. Just play around with it
and see what works best. After you get a feel for what is
most effective (you will learn what works best for you in just a
few weeks of posting) then use Day Five to concentrate on what
works best.
A Quick Review of What
Happens
Day One: You post your
first set of ads using account number 1.
Day Two: You post your
second set of ads using account number 2. The ads from Day
One are now beginning to generate hits. (Remember, it took them
24 hours to be seen)
Day Three: You post your
third set of ads using account number 3. The ads from Day
One have fallen off of the main page and are no longer receiving
much attention. However, the ads from day 2 have now been
placed online and are at the top of the list, receiving the most
prominent display.
Day Four: You post your
fourth set of ads using account number 4. The ads from Day
Two have fallen off of the main page and are no longer receiving
much attention. However, the ads from day 3 have now been
placed online and are at the top of the list, generating
hits.
Day Five: You post your
fifth set of ads using account number 5. The ads from Day
Three have fallen off of the main page and are no longer
receiving much attention. However, the ads from day 4 have
now been placed online and are at the top of the category
list. Friday's ads will be seen on Saturday.
Sunday is the day of rest.
Step 5: Update your ads.
By this time on the following
week (Day One of Week 2) your advertising automobile should at
least be moving a bit. Don't expect it to go speeding down
the road, yet. Keep pushing.
On Day One of Week 2 you begin
the process over. However, this time it is much
easier. All of the groundwork has been done.
You can update your ads each day
in about 5-7 minutes...
...keeping the car
rolling!
Here is how you do it.
(1) Log in at Yahoo.com using
email account number one.
(2) Click on the
"Classifieds" link.
(3) Select "My
Ads." The ads that you posted on Day One of last week
will appear.
(4) Click individually on each one
in "Edit Ad." The original ad will come
up.
(5) Make a change. Make it
something simple. You can change your punctuation,
changing a period (.) to an exclamation point (!).
Any little subtle change will do.

a blank email to secrets@blahblahblah.com
(6) Click
"Submit" A screen will popup notifying you of
the change. Then, if you click on "My Ads" at
the top again, you will see the ad with TODAY'S date as the
posting date. Bingo! Your ad goes back to the top of
the listings.
(7) Simply repeat this each day USING A DIFFERENT ACCOUNT EACH
DAY. On Day One, use Account Number One to update THOSE
ads. On Day Two, use Account Number Two to update THOSE
ads. Continue using each of the different accounts.
Then, it's just a matter of
doing this for about 5-7 minutes a day, five days a week.
Soon, you will be pushing that
car up the road faster than you ever thought you could.
The key is to get started and
then keep pushing.
Well, what are you waiting
for?!
